मूल शब्दों से बने One Word Substitution
इन शब्दों को रटने की ज़रूरत नहीं — इनका मूल भाग ही अर्थ बता देता है। -phobia का अर्थ है भय, -cracy और -archy का शासन, -logy का अध्ययन। मूल पकड़ में आ जाए तो 107 शब्द अपने आप खुल जाते हैं।
डर बताने वाले शब्द (Phobias)
डर वाले शब्द सबसे आसान समूह हैं क्योंकि इनमें केवल पहला हिस्सा बदलता है, दूसरा हिस्सा -phobia सब में एक ही रहता है। hydro का अर्थ है जल, acro का अर्थ है ऊँचाई, nycto का अर्थ है रात, pyro का अर्थ है आग, और xeno का अर्थ है पराया। यानी पहला हिस्सा याद कर लेने भर से पूरा शब्द बन जाता है। और यही मूल दूसरी जगह भी काम आते हैं — hydro से hydroelectric बनता है और pyro से pyrotechnics। इसीलिए मूल पकड़ने वाला छात्र एक शब्द के साथ चार शब्द मुफ़्त पा जाता है।

अध्ययन बताने वाले शब्दों में अंत का हिस्सा -logy होता है और आरंभ का हिस्सा विषय बताता है। bio का अर्थ है जीवन, zoo का अर्थ है पशु, geo का अर्थ है पृथ्वी, astro का अर्थ है तारा, और psycho का अर्थ है मन। इसी क्रम में -graphy का अर्थ है लिखना या वर्णन करना, इसलिए geography पृथ्वी का वर्णन है और biography किसी के जीवन का लेखा। auto का अर्थ है स्वयं, इसलिए autobiography अपनी लिखी हुई जीवन-कथा है। इन पाँच-छह मूलों को एक बार ध्यान से पढ़ लीजिए, फिर नीचे की सूची अपने आप खुलती चली जाएगी।
